Join us for a six-week introductory course in which Katie Bastiman, local Dante scholar and JCG teacher of French and Italian, will guide readers through Dante’s depiction of Hell, Purgatory, and Paradise. \u003c\/span\u003e\u003cspan\u003e \u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MsoNormal\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eThe course will provide an overview of the whole text as well as a closer look at some of the most the most impactful passages of this 700-year-old poem. Through discussion of Dante’s religious and political ideas, as well as the lasting legacy that this work has left on art and culture, readers will develop a nuanced appreciation of Dante’s contribution to literary history and will be equipped to explore the text further at their own pace. Canapés will be provided and each session will include a short break.
